How to Stay as Organized as Possible

Organization is one key to success. Many people who are successful in business and in life have their own way of organizing. That’s why it’s important to find a way to organize that is right for you. So, take into account the following foundational principles of organization. You’ll gain the ability to breathe easier and see clearer both mentally and physically.

1. Get rid of the clutter. If you’re like any other average person, chances are you have clutter. Clutter is basically the accumulation of objects over time that hasn’t been put into check. Clutter can have an emotional motivation; this is called hoarding. Get rid of clutter by being strict on yourself and throwing away, donating or selling your goods. Once you’re free from clutter, you can move onto the organizing part.

2. Take into account your purpose and take into observe what you have. Whatever is left from the clutter is what matters to you. So, look at everything and take inventory. Decide if the objects left align with your purpose, whether it’s your life purpose or career purpose. If you don’t know your purpose, pick one. Throw away everything that doesn’t align with your purpose.

3. Look at everything you own and compartmentalize. This is the fun part. Batch things together that have something in common. You’ll also realize when you have duplicates of something. If you do and it’s unnecessary, toss it. You may want to keep all your electronics in one box, organize all your tools or get your files into order.

4. Consider creating new methods. Observe your habits and streamline them. Now that you’re relatively organized, this is a great opportunity to organize your own methods. For example, if it takes you two hours to get ready, challenge yourself to figure out a way to cut that in half or more.

5. Get into new habits. Staying clean means making clean a habit. Accept cleanliness as a lifestyle.
